In the Mullerthal Region – Luxemburg’s Little Switzerland, the visitor can spend a diversified vacation. Echternach, the eldest city of the country, is considered as historic hot spot and capital of the whole region. Hikers will encounter a well signaled hiking net throughout the whole region and they may discover impressive rock formations, romantic brook valleys, amazing view points on the valley of the Sûre (http://www.mullerthal-trail.lu). The small villages are quite charming and the old ruins of the castles of Beaufort and Larochette as well as the Schießentümpel cascade are worth a visit. The Müllerthal can be explored independently either by bus (Bus 110/111 leaving from Luxembourg city’s trainstation every 30 min) or by train (train to Trier, then get off at Wasserbillig) or as part of a guided tour. Please note: The hiking trails and the guided tour are physically challenging, therefore this tour is unfortunately not suited for young children, kids in strollers or people who are not well on foot!
